Comfort Zones

How reassuring it must be to remain in that one zone where we are most comfortable, where we thrive with little or no effort and zero threats are posed.

How deceptive a zone this is… Yes, days will come and go but no progress is being made, we are not too bothered, we can eat, live and have fun.

What more can we ask for?

Exactly! What more can we ask for? A WHOLE LOT MORE. As long as the world as a whole isn’t 100% right there’s always more to learn, more to achieve and more to give.

The human species has come a very long way in regards to our developmental process. Cast your mind back, let’s say 10 years ago. Life as we know it is quite different from 10 years ago, inventors keep pushing boundaries, in actual sense, there is no such thing as ‘boundaries’.

It is all a figment of our imaginations. There really are no limits.

People from a 100 years ago, could have sworn we won’t go to the moon, Aubrey de Grey won’t be talking life extension, Jacque Fresco won’t be dreaming of great social change, life expectancy won’t have increased and the cure for certain ailments which were classed as ‘incurable’ won’t have been cured.

To think malaria was once incurable, anyone who contracted it was doomed! Boundaries have been pushed.

Technology is one aspect of our development that is exponential: this means it doesn’t get better in bits, it gets better in multiples.

In my journey through life, I have had to push my ‘boundaries’ in the quest for finding myself and my purpose on earth. I have explored myself a whole lot more than I could have ever imagined 5 years ago.

Today was a day where my will was tested. I have a martial arts grading for the next belt up. Boy was it hard! Physically, mentally and emotionally. The nerves kicked in, I started doubting my skills and questioning myself on why I am putting myself through this.

I worked muscles, I had no idea existed in my body, mentally I had to focus and believe in my abilities and emotionally I had to take criticism about areas that needed to be improved upon.

We are all a work in progress and change is the one thing that is constant. If you introspectively analyse your life and you are no different from the person you were of 2, 3 or 5 years ago, you need to leave your comfort zone and venture into new unexplored virgin grounds.

Pressure makes us better people, it makes us realise the strength we bear within, the talents and abilities we have been blessed with but have allowed to remain in a state of hibernation.

A couple of things I learned today:

• We are all on an individual unique journey, no two people are on the same path in life, be they married, siamese twins or siblings.

• We all have abilities and even when we think we are at our best we can still apply just a bit more pressure on ourselves to achieve better than the best.

• Life is exciting, don’t go through it without living.

• Change is constant and should be welcomed with open arms.

• Victory, Success, Triumph all taste sweeter than sugar but they rarely come to us on a platter of gold.

Yes, I passed my grading!! I am well chuffed!

Do you have a story to share of your progress? Done anything lately that has brought about a change? Let us hear about it in the comments section šŸ™‚

When you step outside your comfort zone, magic happens!

 A little more pressure…Greatness ahead
